Looking for something to read this Valentine’s day? Like to spend the day with your nose buried in a book regardless of your relationship standing? Maybe just need an excuse so that you don’t get unwanted plans on that particular day? Or maybe something terrible just happened in the book you’re reading and you need something a little less… heartbreaking. Whatever your reason, I have five books to throw your way and hopefully help you with whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish. Some of these might seem a little cliche, but we’re talking Valentine’s Day here. Cliche is unavoidable. Now, onto our five categories-slash-technically-single-books-because-I-don’t-have-that-much-time-on-my-hands.
The movie might not have matched the book to a T (they rarely do), and some things might have been changed (both for the better and for the worse, honestly I enjoyed both for different reasons), I really enjoyed this book and it always strikes me as a good book to whip out on Valentine’s Day due to the romantic notes it pulls out in the later chapter, a la Beauty and the Beast.
I absolutely adore this book and the series it comes from. It throws together a modern setting, a fair(y) godmother, and shenanigans that end in a much less modern setting along with tons of hilarity and a good helping of light-heartedness for those in need. This book sits comfy on my favorites shelf and it is one I highly recommend for those looking for a nice, funny read set in a different time.
You probably have heard of their other book, Nick & Nora’s Infinite Playlist (which I have yet to read or watch), but I don’t see as much said about this one despite it having been out for four years now. It’s a quick read, it’s cute, and it’s different from other books in the sense that it’s written from one perspective and then the other (Dash’s and Lily’s), and by a different author each. I definitely plan on reading the other book of theirs (plus more if there are or will be more) and I definitely reccommend this one to sit down with on Valentine’s Day and waste the day away with.
The Slightly Weird
Now, this isn’t the top book on this list in the least, but it was so different from anything I’ve read as of yet that I ended up really enjoying it. If you’re looking for something different to sink into while still getting that hint of romance that fuels this Valentine’s Day list, then I suggest picking this one up for the holiday and giving it a try.
The One You Probably Saw Coming
I probably don’t even need to give a reason for this one, you’ve probably heard them all, but I don’t feel this list is complete without adding it in. It really is a good one to pick up for Valentine’s Day and I back all the other people who are continually talking about this one and agree with them when they tell you it’s worth a go.
And that is the five books I recommend you pick up this Valentine’s Day! This was only five out of a large list, so expect this to be a regular thing. There are lots of good books out there that either center around romance or have a decent hint of it to be welcome on a list like this. Have any you want to add? Let me know! More books are always welcome.
Thanks for reading!
